Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology will speak on several important aspects at Express Adda, known as one of the loudest voices on various issues on digitalization in the changing times. He has been vocal about matters related to regulatory policy, consumer rights in cyberspace, spectrum allocation, net neutrality and the impact of AI (Artificial Intelligence) on India’s job market. In the field of IT, he was instrumental in introducing a $10 billion package to accelerate semiconductor production in India.
He also holds a prominent position in the drafting of the Digital India Bill. The bill will replace the decades-old Information Technology Act, 2000. Even before being appointed as the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar was instrumental in framing some of the most influential technology regulations in India. 2013 As an MP, he filed a PIL arguing that Section 66A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 was unconstitutional. In a landmark judgment in 2015, the Supreme Court struck down this provision. He was one of the petitioners in the privacy case in the Supreme Court in 2017, when the right to privacy was declared a fundamental right.
