UP Nagar Nikay Chunav 2023: Know what are the challenges for BJP in UP Municipal Elections? CM Yogi himself took command

UP Nagar Nikay Chunav 2023: BJP’s fire brand leader and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself has taken command of the party campaign.

UP Municipal Corporation Election 2023: The dates for the civic elections in Uttar Pradesh have been announced. Municipal elections will be held in two phases in UP. Voting will be held in the first phase on May 4 and in the second phase on May 11. The results will come on 13 May. After the announcement of the election dates, the code of conduct has come into force in the state. With this, leaders of all political parties have gathered to register their presence among the public, but making an edge in the UP municipal elections is no less than a challenge for the BJP, as the Lok Sabha elections are to be held in the year 2024. From this point of view, it becomes very important for BJP, because the way to Delhi is decided from UP only.

BJP won 14 out of 16 seats in 2017

Bharatiya Janata Party which already has the maximum number of Lok Sabha, Vidhansabha and Mayor seats in the state. In the urban bodies elections held in 2017, BJP won 14 out of 16 mayor seats, Aligarh and Meerut seats went to BSP’s account. While the account of any party was not opened. Talking about Nagar Palika Parishad, Samajwadi Party won 45 seats, BSP 29 and Congress 9 seats.

This time mayor elections will be held in 17 cities. Shahjahanpur’s name has increased in the list. The main opposition party SP is trying hard to open its account especially on the mayor’s seat. At the same time, it will not be easy for the BSP, which was reduced to just one seat in the 2022 assembly elections, to retain or increase the mayor’s seat in the body elections. The BJP will have to maintain its lead and give a new energy to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This is the reason why BJP’s fire brand leader and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself has taken charge of the party campaign and has been visiting districts to lay foundation stones or inaugurate projects related to urban development. Yogi is trying to give a message to the public during his tour that the BJP government has worked for better urban infrastructure in the last six years.

BJP won 10 out of 12 seats in 2012

If you look at the 2012 elections, then there was a Samajwadi Party government in the state, but the BJP won 10 out of 12 seats in the mayoral elections, while two seats went to independents, but 194 in the municipal council. The BJP got only 42 seats, the Congress 15 and the Peace Party 3, while independents won the largest share out of 130. Later all the political parties including SP claimed to support independent candidates. Out of 423 Nagar Panchayats at that time, BJP won 36, Congress 21 and independents won 352 seats. While some seats were won by Peace Party and RLD.

Talk about 2006 when BSP was in power, but it did not contest elections on its symbol. At that time BJP had won 8 out of 12 mayoral seats. The Congress had to settle for three and the BSP one seat. In 191 municipal councils that year, SP won 61 seats, BJP 41, Congress 17 and RLD 2. While the independents won the maximum 70 seats. In 418 Nagar Panchayats, SP was the winner by getting BJP 57, Congress 26 and 105. While independents won on 219 Nagar Panchayats.
