UP Politics: SP happy on this seat due to coming together of uncle and nephew

Firozabad Loksabha Seat: Akshay Yadav of SP won the Firozabad seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Firozabad Lok Sabha Seat: There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, but the Lok Sabha seat of Firozabad is very much discussed, because it is considered a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party, but the Samajwadi Party had to face defeat from here in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The biggest reason for which was uncle Shivpal’s displeasure with nephew Akhilesh, but now it is expected that this seat can once again go to Samajwadi Party’s account in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections due to uncle Shivpal joining Samajwadi Party. On the other hand, the SP is also happy that Akhilesh is getting the support of Shivpal.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party fielded Akshay Yadav, son of Ram Gopal Yadav, from the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat. The challenge was given by Praspa chief uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, but the Modi wave was such that in 2019 even those forts of the Samajwadi Party, where the SP had won the last time, were razed. From Firozabad Lok Sabha seat, BJP candidate Dr. Chandrasen Jadaun defeated SP’s Akshay Yadav in a close contest.

In 2019, this seat went to BJP’s account in the uncle-nephew fight.

BJP candidate Chandrasen Jadaun has got 485988 votes, while SP’s Akshay Yadav has got 460028 votes. Jadaun defeated Akshay by about 25 thousand votes. The reason for this defeat was none other than Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal. Praspa candidate Shivpal Singh Yadav got only 91,011 votes, but it was enough to ensure BJP’s victory and SP’s defeat.

SP’s Akshay Yadav won in 2014

Let me tell you, in the year 2014 too, there was such a Modi wave, which destroyed all the parties, but the Modi wave did not show any effect on the Firozabad seat. The people here had elected the youngest Akshay Yadav to the Parliament, but the SP had to face defeat in the 2019 uncle-nephew battle.

Loksabha election was held for the first time on this seat in 1957.

If we look at the electoral history of Firozabad Lok Sabha seat, then this seat has never been favorable for any one party and the public changed its mood continuously. For the first time in 1957, the Lok Sabha elections were held on this seat, in which the independent candidate won. Socialist Party won in 1967, Congress in 1971. However, after this, in the total four elections held from 1977 to 1989, the Congress won only once.

After 1991, BJP won thrice in a row.

After Ramlahar in the 90s, after 1991, the Bharatiya Janata Party won here for three consecutive times. BJP’s Prabhu Dayal Katheria scored a hat-trick of victory from here. In 1999 and 2004, Samajwadi Party’s Ramji Lal Suman won big. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also contested and won the seat from 2009, but left the seat after the election.

Congress state president Raj Babbar won the by-election in 2009.

In the by-election held in 2009, state president of Congress Raj Babbar won the election and in 2014, Akshay Yadav, son of Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav, won from here. After this, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, this seat went to BJP’s account in the battle of uncle-nephew and Modi wave.

According to an estimated figure, the caste equation of voters of Firozabad is something like this. Here Yadav – 4 lakh, 40 thousand, Dalit – 2 lakh, 20 thousand and Thakur – 1 lakh, is close to 70 thousand.
