UP Urban Local Body Polls: Owaisi’s party AIMIM raises alarm bells for Samajwadi Party, this is the biggest reason

UP Urban Local Body Polls: Mohammad Anas, AIMIM’s mayoral candidate in Meerut, said that most of our candidates lost the elections because of SP.

UP Urban Local Body Polls: The results of the Uttar Pradesh civic elections are out, but this time Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) not only left its own mark in the urban local body (ULB) elections of UP, but also made a huge dent in the minority community. Which is being seen as a major setback for the Samajwadi Party.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has five presidents in the UP Nagar Palika Parishad and 75 councilors in the municipal corporations. On the other hand, Owaisi’s party’s candidate Anas stood second in the election for the post of mayor in Meerut. Anas got 128547 votes. A total of 45.7 per cent voting took place here, out of which Owaisi’s party got 22.37 per cent votes.

AIMIM won the municipal council seats in Sambhal (Ashiya Mushir), Sikandra Rao (Mohammed Mushir) in Hathras district, Ghatampur (Abdul Ahad) in Kanpur district, Kundarki Nagar Panchayat (Zeenat Mehndi) in Moradabad. At the same time, Thiriya Nijawat Khan Nagar Panchayat (Imran Khan) of Bareilly district also went to AIMIM’s account.

Most of our candidates lost because of SP: Anas

Mohammad Anas, AIMIM’s mayoral candidate in Meerut, said, ‘The Samajwadi Party, which has always been calling AIMIM the B team of BJP. He said that the truth is that it was because of SP that most of our candidates could not defeat BJP candidates in most of the seats.

Anas came second in the Meerut mayoral election with around 1.28 lakh votes. Which was won by BJP’s Harikant Ahluwalia by a margin of more than 1 lakh votes. This is the first time that the BJP has been able to field its candidate for the top post in the municipal corporations after 11 years. Muslims overwhelmingly voted in favor of the AIMIM candidate. Due to which SP candidate Seema Pradhan got around 1.15 lakh votes and she stood third.
