UP: Video of players eating food kept in toilet in tournament goes viral, officer suspended

Videos of kabaddi players eating food kept in toilets in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh are viral on social media. The state government has taken cognizance in this matter. According to media reports, Animesh Saxena, Sports Officer (Sport Officer), Saharanpur has been suspended with immediate effect.

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has ordered ADM Finance and Revenue (Finance and Revenue) Rajnish Kumar Mishra to investigate the incident. The Sports Directorate has also sought a reply from the District Magistrate. This action was taken by the government after reports that the food served to the players in the sports camp was kept in the toilet.

A three-day sub-junior girls kabaddi competition was organized from 16 September at Dr. Bhimrao Sports Stadium, Saharanpur. 17 teams took part in the competition. The incident is being told of the first day of the competition. The players claimed that they were given uncooked food kept in the toilet. The players were told that due to paucity of space, the food was kept in the toilet. The players also said that only vegetables and salad were given to them in the meal.

Aaj Tak, quoting sports officer Animesh Saxena, has written that due to rain, food items were kept in the changing room adjacent to the swimming pool. Since construction work is going on everywhere in the stadium. Because of this, cooking arrangements were made in the changing room. However, it can be seen in the viral video that the food was being cooked in the toilet.
