Weather Update: Coldest morning of weather in Delhi, cold wave in North India

IMD Weather Forecast 24 December: The Meteorological Department says that due to the dry winds coming from the Himalayas in the plains of North West India, from December 24 to 27, there will be cold wave in different areas of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and North Rajasthan. Weather Update In North India: North India is in the grip of heavy fog. The national capital Delhi recorded the coldest morning of the season on Friday as the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius. During this, visibility reduced to 500 metres, due to which road and rail traffic was affected. Meteorologists say that the fog will increase further in the coming five days.

Due to this, most of the states of North India will be in the grip of cold wave. The reason for this change is said to be a sudden drop in temperature in Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and surrounding states. The minimum temperature in these states has been recorded less than three degrees. Due to dense fog in Punjab and Haryana, the visibility was poor on Friday morning.

The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility that there is no possibility of any change in this situation in North West India for the next four to five days. While there will be no change in the maximum temperature over East India and it may change by two to four degrees in the next 24 hours. Fog-like conditions were observed in Delhi-NCR from morning to evening. There was heavy snowfall in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Due to the fog, even the sun was visible only for a while. Due to this, the cold started increasing from four o’clock in the evening itself. On the other hand, a decline has also been recorded in the level of air quality in Delhi. The air quality level in Delhi was recorded in very poor condition late on Friday evening.

Drop in maximum and minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR

According to the Meteorological Department, a drop in both the maximum and minimum temperature has been recorded in Delhi-NCR on Friday. The maximum temperature has dropped by one degree Celsius and the minimum temperature by three degrees Celsius. Gurdaspur was the coldest place in Punjab on Friday, recording a minimum temperature of 4.7 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 7.1 degrees Celsius, Patiala 6.2 degrees Celsius, Bathinda five degrees Celsius and Mohali 8.2 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Celsius.
