Weather Update: Why it is raining heavily in October, how long will there be relief; Know- Meteorologists’ Estimates

New Delhi, Online Desk. Monsoon has departed from many states of the country. Even after this, the havoc of heavy rains continues in some states at this time. Especially in North India, incessant rains for the last 3 days have disturbed normal life. In Delhi-NCR too, people are facing a lot of problems due to rain.

However, this year, even after the monsoon season, except in a few areas, most parts of India have either continued to rain or heavy rains have been forecast. Why is it raining so much in October this year? What is the weather system like in the country at this time? In which states is it raining? And for whom has the warning of further heavy rain been issued? Let’s know…

Why does heavy rain continue in October?

Monsoon in India is generally believed to return in mid-September. This withdrawal process of monsoon is called monsoon withdrawal. The date of withdrawal of monsoon from Rajasthan is generally considered to be from 17th September. During this period, with the end of the rains, a decrease in the moisture is recorded and the rain continues to decrease gradually over the north-western parts of the country. In general, monsoon withdrawal across India should be completed by October 15. That is, by this time the rainy season ends in the whole of India.

However, this time the rain continues in October as well. This was the situation in some parts of the country last time also. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), this year the monsoon arrived late at many places. Due to this, the monsoon remained active in the western parts of the country till September. This activity has had an effect on the process of withdrawal of monsoon.

Monsoon farewell from these states

The southwest monsoon has departed from some districts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh amid continued rains in many states of the country. At the same time, in October, due to the formation of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and the formation of a cyclone, the southwest monsoon stopped completely instead of returning.

This is the reason that heavy rains are still continuing in Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, East Gujarat and Mumbai. Apart from this, the process of withdrawal of monsoon has also been interrupted in Northeast India, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana and heavy rains are continuing here.

How is the weather system in the country at present?

According to the weather information website Skymet, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from a cyclonic circulation up to Northwest Uttar Pradesh across Telangana, Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.

A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Central Bay of South Bengal. A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Gujarat region and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from circulation through Gujarat and adjoining areas up to Punjab via Rajasthan and Haryana.
