West Bengal Cooperative society elections: TMC-backed candidates won all the 12 seats in the cooperative society elections in Medinipur district. The BJP alleged that its office set up for the election was ransacked after the results were declared.

Clash between TMC and BJP supporters: Several people were injured in clashes between Trinamool Congress and BJP supporters on Friday during the election of a cooperative society in West Bengal’s East Medinipur district, police said. The clash took place when elections were being held for the governing body of the Bhekutia Agricultural Cooperative Society in Nandigram. The police also used force to disperse the supporters of both the sides. Police say that the situation came under control after that. And the voting went on smoothly. No arrests have been made so far.

TMC won the election

TMC-backed candidates won all the 12 seats in the cooperative society elections in Medinipur district. The BJP alleged that its office set up for the election was ransacked after the results were declared. The special thing is that Mamata Banerjee was defeated by BJP’s Shubhendu Adhikari from Nandigram. TMC is deeply hurt by this. Mamta Banerjee even challenged her election in the court. Currently, TMC considers Shubhendu as its biggest enemy. He was earlier in Trinamool and was considered a special person of Mamata Banerjee.

Shubhendu Adhikari became MLA for the first time in 2016 from Nandigram. At that time he was in Trinamool. A few months before the 2021 assembly elections, he left Trinamool and joined BJP. In this election, Shubhendu retained his seat by defeating Mamta. Although Mamata Banerjee later won the assembly elections from the second seat, the Nandigram seat went out of TMC’s hands. Since then there is a competition between Shubhendu and TMC for supremacy in Nandigram.

After the victory of TMC in the assembly elections, all the leaders who went to BJP returned to Mamata. Veterans like Mukul Roy had also sided with BJP, but Shubhendu is continuously standing in the field. Recently, he had said that when the BJP government is formed in Bengal, then the bulldozer will run on the lines of UP.
