Sunil Tatkare’s daughter Aditi Tatkare is among the nine NCP leaders who took oath as cabinet ministers on Sunday. He is also facing an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). In 2017, the ACB had filed a charge sheet related to corruption in the Irrigation Department, in which Tatkare was also named. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also launched a preliminary inquiry against Tatkare in 2012 in connection with the same case.

Sunil Tatkare has always liked to be involved in the ups and downs of Maharashtra politics. The party fielded him in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Raigad when he lost to sitting MP Anant Geete of the Shiv Sena. Meanwhile, his assembly seat had gone to his nephew Avdhoot. Five years later, Tatkare again contested the general elections and won.

Sunil Tatkare was born on 10 July 1955 in Sutarwadi Kolad and did his Inter Science from Fergusson College, Pune. He worked as a government road contractor before joining the Indian National Congress in 1984.
