Will the pair of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid be able to get Team India the title of ODI World Cup 2023, Sourav Ganguly told
Sourav Ganguly told whether the pair of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid would be able to get India the ICC title for 10 years or not.
Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly talked about the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India and expressed hope that the pair of Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma will together win the ICC title for the last 10 years. Will be able to end the drought. Ganguly expressed hope that these two can play a big role in India’s title win. This time the World Cup will start from October 5 and the Indian team has to play its first match against five-time champions Australia.
Rohit and Dravid can end ICC title drought
The Indian team last won the ODI World Cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in the year 2011 and since then Team India has not won any ICC title. Talking to RevSports, Ganguly said that pressure is bound to happen in such a big tournament. I have also played before and felt the pressure. He further said that Rohit Sharma had scored 5 centuries in the last ODI World Cup and I am sure there must have been pressure on him as well. Pressure is no problem and I am sure both will find some way or the other to succeed.
Ganguly further said that when Rahul Dravid used to play, there was pressure on him to perform, but now he is the coach and he will be under pressure as to how the team performs. Regarding Rohit Sharma, Ganguly said that Rohit Sharma has won 5 IPL titles which is not easy. He can do the same for India in this World Cup. At the same time, in the last World Cup, he also scored 5 centuries which is very difficult, so hopefully he can do it for India and win this ODI World Cup title.
Talking about Pakistan, Ganguly said that Pakistan should qualify for the semi-finals so that the India-Pakistan semi-final match can be played at Eden Gardens (laughs). Ganguly said that this time five matches will be played in Eden Gardens and I am grateful to Jai Shah and BCCI for this. We have also got a chance to organize the semi-final match. The capacity of this ground is 60,000-70,000 and we will try to increase it to one lakh in the next two years.
