Yamaha unveils R3 and MT03 in MotoGP Bharat, know complete details from engine to hardware
Taking advantage of the ongoing Bharat MotoGP racing event in India, Yamaha has unveiled its R3 and MT03. The company has introduced its racing blue brand along with its sports sibling at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, which is hosting the inaugural edition of MotoGP Bharat or Grand Prix of India. There has been speculation about the launch of both the bikes in India for a long time but no concrete update has come regarding this. Although Yamaha has not yet announced the official launch date of the motorcycle pair, they have fully revealed both the bikes.
Yamaha R3, MT-03 unveiled
The R3 mimics Yamaha’s bigger supersports like the R7 and R1 with a completely fair body and an aggressive riding stance thanks to the low-set clip-ons and rear-set footpegs. The front end features a similar look, with the MT-03 borrowing styling elements from the MT-07 and MT-09, including a twin-LED headlamp setup housed within a heavy apron.
Likewise, the MT-03 borrows its styling bits from bigger naked models like the MT-07 and MT-09, with a traditional muscular profile and strong stance. Like its Super Sport sibling, the MT-03 gets a sporty riding stance, but unlike the R3, the riding ergonomics are a bit more comfortable due to the high straight-line handlebar.
Yamaha R3, MT-03 Engine Specifications
Both the fully-faired R3 and the naked MT-03 are powered by a common 321cc liquid-cooled 2-cylinder engine that produces 41.4 bhp of maximum power and 29.6 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.
Yamaha R3, MT-03 Hardware
The motorcycles also share similar hardware with a suspension setup consisting of KYB upside-down front forks (130 mm travel) and a rear monoshock (125 mm travel). Talking about braking duty, it has a 298 mm disc brake at the front and a 220 mm disc brake at the rear. Dual channel anti lock braking system has been added to this braking system. The feature list of both bikes includes dual LED headlamps, LED indicators and LCD instrument cluster.
