You have written five pages on Senthil, at least give permission to prosecute AIADMK ministers, government’s letter to the Governor
The government says that the governor has been suppressing the files of these ministers for a long time, due to which the CBI is not able to take action.
Tamil Nadu’s Stalin government has come under attack from Governor RN Ravi after the DMK government’s decision to sack Minister Senthil Balaji. The law minister of the state has written a letter to the governor seeking permission to prosecute four leaders who were ministers in the AIADMK government. The government says that the governor has been suppressing the files of these ministers for a long time, due to which the CBI is not able to take action.
In a letter to the Governor, Tamil Nadu Law Minister S Raghupathi has said that Governor RN Ravi should not delay further in prosecuting former ministers of the AIADMK government and clearing the 13 bills pending with him. No further action has been taken in the gutkha scam as the CBI’s request for sanction to prosecute C Vijay Bhaskar and BV Ramana, ministers during the erstwhile AIADMK government, has not elicited a response from the Raj Bhavan. The state cabinet had sent the CBI’s request to the governor in September 2022.
The CBI is probing the scam, in which gutkha companies were said to have bribed ministers. Vijayabhaskar and Ramana figure in the list of accused. The law minister said the DVAC had also sought sanction to prosecute KC Veeramani and MR Vijayabhaskar, who were ministers in the AIADMK government. This case is also related to allegations of corruption.
Accepting the request of the DVAC, the state cabinet forwarded the letters dated September 2022 and May 15, 2023. Raghupathi in his letter said that 13 Bills passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly are also stuck in the Raj Bhavan for the approval of the Governor. The minister said that two of these bills are stuck for more than three years.
