Students are very worried due to the increasing diplomatic dispute between India and Canada. Meanwhile, Professor Rhonda Lenton, President and Vice-Chancellor of Canada’s York University, told the Indian Express that what could such a situation mean for Indian students aiming to study in Canada?
Could this diplomatic tension between India and Canada result in a delay in the start of the next academic year? In response to this question, Rhonda Lenton said “York University is closely monitoring the current events between India and Canada. We are confident that the Governments of Canada and India will reach a resolution on these diplomatic matters. In the meantime, York continues to communicate closely with our international students of Indian origin to reassure them that Canada and York will continue to be safe and welcoming places for them. We tell them about all the support and services the University provides, including student welfare and mental health support, advice on academic, visa and immigration matters and financial assistance.
Rhonda Lenton added, “In general we help students connect with each other and build a strong network and community here. Canada is an incredibly welcoming multicultural, inclusive, safe society that values higher education. In fact, Canada’s university education system is one of the best resources in the country because no matter which university you attend, you will receive a high-quality education. “I think it’s very important for students to do as much work as possible to find out where they are applying.”
Rhonda Lenton, advising Indian students, said, “Instructors in Canada often expect students to engage in class discussion, ask questions, and think critically about issues and problems presented in class.
Indian Express questions Indian admissions, new courses and programmes, enrollment figures and what is the roadmap of York University? In response, the Vice Chancellor said, “York has a number of high value scholarships for international students.
