When the BSP government was formed in UP in 2007, Umesh Pal lodged an FIR of kidnapping in Dhumanganj police station on July 5, 2007.

In this case, a case was registered against former Bahubali MP Atiq Ahmed, Bhai Ashraf, Dinesh Pasi, Ansar Ahmed alias Ansar Baba, Khan Soulat Hanif, Javed, Farhan, Israr, Abid Pradhan, Ashiq alias Malli and Ejaz Akhtar. Along with main eyewitnesses Rukhsana, Sadiq, Saifullah, Om Prakash, Budhi Patel in Dhumanganj police station in BSP MLA Rajupal murder case, the police also made Umeshpal a witness. Umesh Pal had taken entry in SP through the outgoing District Vice President of Samajwadi Party, Ram Sumer Pal. According to the information, Umesh was also given membership in the SP office in Lucknow by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
