Data obtained from the Election Commission’s website shows that between April 2018 and 2023, there have been eight such occasions when BJP has received donations of one billion rupees or more through electoral bonds in a single day. The special thing is that there was a day when the party received donations of more than Rs 200 crore in just 24 hours.

According to the information, these were 8 such occasions in which the party had earned Rs 100 crore in one go, BJP’s figure turned out to be so big that there was no opposition party around it.

Political parties have given their donation data to the Commission in a sealed envelope, which has now been made public by the Commission. The details are believed to relate to the period before April 12, 2019. Electoral bond details after this date were made public by the election panel last week. The Election Commission said in a statement that the political parties had submitted the data of electoral bonds in a sealed cover as per the directions of the Supreme Court’s interim order dated April 12, 2019.

In this regard, the State Bank had sought extension till June 30, 2024, but the court did not give the extension and the State Bank had to hand over all the data to the Election Commission, which has now been made public by the Election Commission.

After the electoral bond data became public, opposition parties in the country are continuously attacking BJP’s election donations. However, donations of 53 electoral bonds of the total amount have also been received by other opposition parties against BJP, which include parties like Congress, TMC, Aam Aadmi Party, DMK, RJD Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena.
