Hearing in HC on Aaradhya Bachchan’s petition, the court said – giving wrong information to the public, cannot be tolerated
High Court on Aaradhya Bachchan Plea: Aaradhya Bachchan, granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan, had filed a petition in the court that some YouTube channels were running wrong news about her. Now the matter has been heard in the Delhi High Court.
A petition was filed in the court on behalf of Aaradhya, daughter of Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, against some YouTubers that they are sharing wrong information about her on YouTube. The Delhi High Court heard the matter on Thursday and the court said that ‘every child has the right to respect’. Fake news should not be shared. It has been said by the court that those fake news should be removed immediately. A written reply has also been sought from the YouTube channels on this matter by the court. It has also been asked to strictly follow the rules of IT Rules 2021.
Actually, the matter is such that a few days ago, fake news was run by some YouTube channels regarding Aaradhya’s health. Aaradhya, in her petition, had demanded a ban on these channels and their content. Now the matter has been heard by Justice C Hari Shankar.
What did the court say?
Justice C Hari Shankar, while hearing the petition of Aaradhya Bachchan, said that ‘every child has the right to respect’. Then whether it is the child of a celebrity or a common man. The dissemination of false information about a child, especially related to physical and mental health, will not be tolerated. In future, such fake news should not be shared. At the same time, summons has also been issued by the court to Google and YouTube.
Along with this, YouTube’s lawyer was told by the court that why don’t you have any policy in such matters? Reprimanding YouTube, Justice C Hari Shankar says that when you are told that such content is being broadcast on YouTube, shouldn’t there be some way to deal with these things? You are a YouTube platform, don’t you have some responsibility for such things?
At the same time, Abhishek Bachchan’s lawyer and petitioner Dayan Krishnan said in the court that ‘the videos aired on YouTube channels are absolutely false’. Along with this, it was also said that ‘the channels which have aired such content. They neither had any consent nor any authority nor license’. It was also said on behalf of the court that wrong information is being given to the public through this. Such things will not be tolerated.
