According to Cricbuzz, two candidates are in the fray. One of them is the current president, Greg Barkley of New Zealand, but who he is up against is still a mystery.
Given the secrecy associated with this process, ICC members and officials who are aware of it have remained silent. In such a situation, the name of the second contestant is still a secret. The current or former director of the ICC can contest the election. The other candidate is said to be part of the current ICC board, but not from England. It cannot be confirmed whether he is from India or the subcontinent.
Barkley became president with the support of BCCI
A few weeks ago there were indications that a former Bangladesh director had shown interest and approached the BCCI for support. However, this information could not be confirmed. Who is eligible from India
Candidates must show by Tuesday 25 October that they have the support of two current directors. If he meets the criteria, the election will be held on November 11. Former presidents from India such as N Srinivasan, Shashank Manohar, Sharad Pawar, Anurag Thakur, Niranjan Shah and Sourav Ganguly are eligible for the post, but it is unlikely that any of them have filed nomination papers.
