He stressed that he will cement his place in the Indian Test team after this Test series. Yashasvi has scored 316 runs in the 4 Test matches played so far at an average of 45.14 and during this period he has scored one half-century and one century. According to Gavaskar, being a left-handed batsman in home conditions, he will not face much trouble against England.
Shreyas Iyer will perform well at number 5
Sunil Gavaskar also talked about Shreyas Iyer who did not perform very well in the two-match Test series against South Africa a few days ago. He was able to score only 41 runs in four innings. Gavaskar said that Shreyas Iyer had performed brilliantly on the Indian pitch in the ODI World Cup and hence I am hopeful that he will play in the same manner at number 5 in this Test series also. He batted aggressively in the World Cup, was cautious in the beginning and then after reading the pitch, his stroke was worth watching. I hope he will definitely repeat it in the Test series against England.
