IND vs SA 1st Test 2nd Day Highlights: Dean Elgar becomes headache for Indian bowlers, South Africa has lead of 11 runs

The host team is getting stronger in the first Test between India and South Africa being played at the Supersports Park in Centurion. On the second day, South African batsmen tested the Indian bowlers fiercely. Although Bumrah and Siraj took wickets from time to time, Dean Elgar still stands as the biggest wall. Play on the second day of the Boxing Day Test was stopped about half an hour early due to bad light. After this the umpires announced the end of the game.

Dean Elgar unbeaten on 140 runs

In response to India’s 245 runs in the first innings, South Africa scored 256 runs at the loss of 5 wickets at the end of the second day’s play. The host team also had a lead of 11 runs. Dean Elgar (140) and Marco Jansen (3) returned unbeaten at the crease till stumps. David Bedingham also impressed for South Africa on the third day. He scored a half century in his test debut. Bedingham played an inning of 56 runs. Apart from this, Tony De Georgi was out after playing an innings of 28 runs in 62 balls.

KL Rahul completed his century

On the second day of the Centurion Test, KL Rahul completed his 14th Test century and India scored 245 in the first innings. Rahul played an inning of 101 runs with the help of 14 fours and 4 sixes. South Africa had a good start. Only one wicket of South Africa had fallen in the first session, but the Indian bowlers made a comeback in the second session. Bumrah took the wickets of De Georgi and Keegan Pietersen in the second session. However, South Africa made a comeback with Dean Elgar’s century.

Prasidh Krishna got debut wicket

In the third session, Siraj and Prasidh Krishna gave the fourth and fifth blow to South Africa. Apart from Elgar, David Bedingham scored a half century in his Test debut for South Africa. Bedingham played an inning of 56 runs. In bowling for India, Bumrah and Siraj have taken 2-2 wickets while Krishna also got his debut wicket. He made Kyle Verreen his victim who returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs.
