India condemns North Korea’s ballistic missile test, says it will affect peace and security

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said in a meeting held on Wednesday, “We have noticed worrying reports of ballistic missile launches. The launch is in violation of Security Council resolutions relating to the DPRK.”

India strongly condemned North Korea for firing a medium-range ballistic missile over Japan on Tuesday. The missile fell into the Pacific Ocean while passing over Japan. North Korea has launched a missile for the first time in five years in which the missile has passed over Japan. India said such launches affect peace and security in the region and beyond. Earlier, America, Britain and France also expressed concern over it and condemned it.

Later, US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield issued a joint statement on behalf of Albania, Brazil, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Norway, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United Kingdom and the United States.

North Korea has launched more than 35 ballistic missiles so far this year

“The United States, Albania, Brazil, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Norway, the Republic of Korea, the UAE and the United Kingdom strongly condemn the launch of a long-range ballistic missile by the DPRK on October 4,” the statement said. These countries also condemned seven other ballistic missile launches by North Korea since September 25, the statement said. North Korea has launched more than 35 ballistic missiles so far in this year alone.
