IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant told the reason for Delhi Capitals’ defeat, also gave update on Ishant Sharma’s injury.
In IPL 2023, the Delhi Capitals team did not have a good start under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant and the team had to face defeat by 4 wickets at the hands of Punjab Kings in the very first match of the season. Delhi team had scored 174 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs, but despite having an excellent bowling attack, this team was not successful in defending this score. After the team’s defeat, captain Rishabh Pant explained the reason for it.
Match lost due to lack of bowler
After Punjab’s defeat, Rishabh Pant said that I think Ishant Sharma’s injury was clearly visible on the field. We had used the impact player in batting and because of this we already had one bowler less. We gave a chance to Abhishek Porel and he batted well at the last moment, but the lack of a bowler was clearly visible and Ishant’s injury was not in the team’s favor. I will not make any excuses, but having one less bowler in the team was not in our favor.
Pant further said that the credit for the victory goes to him for the way Punjab played. However, Delhi players also tried to bring the team back into the match at different times and performed well. Regarding Porel, Pant said that he is quite new, but the way he played was very special. We expect even better performance from him as the season progresses.
Shikhar Dhawan said that I am very happy to be on the field and after the last IPL, I have been playing so much competitive cricket, I was a little nervous.
