Amidst the ongoing news about the launch of Ola S1 New variant, the tweet of Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal is quite revealing.

Ola Electric is constantly working on new EVs while updating its range of electric scooters, due to which the company remains the leader in this segment. To maintain this leadership, the company is soon going to launch its new electric scooter. It has been officially confirmed that Ola Electric is all set to expand its S1 portfolio.

Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took to his social media handle and hinted without words that the company will introduce a new electric scooter that will join the current lineup that includes the S1, S1 Pro and the more affordable new S1 Air.

Based on the latest teaser posted by Ola Electric, the mystery electric scooter is sporting a windscreen, which will be a first for the S1 lineup. If it follows the retro theme, the new variant could offer additional features such as a variety of classic or dual-tone paint schemes and even chrome finish touches on the panels and rear view mirrors. Apart from this, a backrest can also be introduced in the new Ola electric scooter to enhance the comfort of the passenger sitting on the rear seat.

Ola Electric’s portfolio comprises three variants – S1 Air, S1 and S1 Pro. At the moment, the company is tight-lipped about the engine specs of the new trim, but we take a look at the current lineup. The deliveries of the entry-level S1 Air will start from July and is powered by a 3kWh battery. With an output of 4.5kW (6bhp) and a top speed of 85 kmph, the S1 Air offers a return of 125km, according to the IDC range.

The mid-range S1 has the same 3kWh battery as the S1 Air, but has peak power of 8.4kW (11.3bhp) and offers an improved range of 141km. According to Ola Electric, the S1 can do 0-40 kmph in 3.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 95 kmph.

After the central government revised the FAME II subsidy, the prices of the Ola electric scooter range have been increased by up to Rs 15,000. Hence, the S1 Air starts at Rs 1.10 lakh, the S1 at Rs 1.30 lakh and the S1 Pro at Rs 1.40 lakh, ex-showroom.
