Poonch Terror Attack: Father sacrificed in Kargil, son martyred in Poonch, left behind two small children

Poonch Terror Attack: Shaheed Kulwant Singh, one of the five soldiers martyred in the Poonch terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, was a resident of Chadik village in Moga. According to information, Kulwant Singh’s father Baldev Singh was also martyred in the Kargil war. On the other hand, Kulwant Singh, son of Shaheed Baldev Singh, had joined the job 14 years ago. Kulwant Singh was married three years ago. Singh has a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a three-month-old son. He went back to duty after a month’s leave.
Four of the five jawans who were martyred in the Poonch terrorist incident were from Punjab. According to media reports, the martyred soldiers included Lance Naik Debash Baswal from Odisha, Sepoy Sewak Singh, Sepoy Harkishan Singh, Havildar Mandeep Singh and Lance Naik Kulwant Singh from Punjab.
Regarding Lance Naik Kulwant Singh, who was martyred in the terrorist attack on an army vehicle in Poonch, Moga Sarpanch Gurcharan Singh says, “Kulwant Singh was the only son, his father was also martyred in Kargil. The government should help his family.”
The Udhampur-based Northern Command said in a statement that the vehicle caught fire due to possible grenade use by the terrorists. The incident took place around 3 pm on Thursday when the army vehicle was moving between Bhimber Gali and Poonch in Rajouri sector. According to military sources, the vehicle was part of a small convoy of two-three vehicles and the attack is likely to be pre-planned. An officer said, “The terrorists had identified the area in advance and planned the attack. They fired at a vehicle and a diesel tank caught fire.”
NIA will also investigate the Poonch attack. The NIA team visited Poonch on Friday (April 21, 2023) evening. The responsibility of the attack has been taken by the People’s Anti-Fascist Front, a terrorist organization affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. A statement issued by the army said that taking advantage of heavy rain and low visibility, unidentified terrorists attacked the truck carrying ration and fuel with grenades along with firing. Because of which the truck caught fire.
