ICC Elite Panel Indian umpire Nitin Menon made a big allegation on Indian cricketers (without naming anyone) that they pressurize to give decisions in their favor. 39-year-old umpire Nitin Menon is officiating these days in the Ashes Test series being played between England and Australia. He said that umpiring in India is very difficult especially when Team India is playing because the big players of the Indian team always try to create pressure.

Nitin Menon is an ICC Elite Panel umpire and has been regularly seen on-field umpiring in Team India’s matches in India over the past few years. He has come under fire several times for his controversial decisions in Indian team matches, but according to him, he only concentrates on his job (umpiring) and not on the noise outside.

Talking to PTI, Nitin Menon said that when the Indian team plays in India, there is a lot of hype about that match and the big players of the team always try to put pressure on you. They try to get you to give a decision in their favor. In that situation, we have to control ourselves and avoid focusing too much on what they are saying. This shows how mentally strong I am that I can face any situation, even if it is the pressure created by a big player.

He said that as an umpire in India, you have a huge responsibility. Initially I didn’t have much experience when I started umpiring, but in the last three years I have matured a lot as an umpire. At the same time, he said about the Ashes that it is a great series. I was in England last year when the South African team came there. That’s when I realized what baseball is all about and that Australia has a great bowling line-up.
