Wherever JP Nadda goes, BJP loses elections, Sanjay Raut taunted and Nitesh Rane retaliated

Amid BJP president JP Nadda’s two-day visit to Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (Uddhav) party leader Sanjay Raut took a dig that wherever he goes, the BJP loses. The Rajya Sabha MP took this taunt on Wednesday in the backdrop of the recently concluded Karnataka assembly election results. Targeting Raut, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane said that all these are symptoms of urban Naxals.

The BJP has recently faced defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections. The Congress has won a landslide victory there. Raut said in Nashik that Nadda stood firm for campaigning for his party in Karnataka, but it lost. Now he is coming to Maharashtra, we welcome him. Targeting Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Raut said that changing parties is his hobby as well as his profession. There is no such party in which he was not present.

Asked about the possibility of notices being issued to Shiv Sena MLAs, Raut said the notices were being sent by Narvekar and not by the Speaker. The way Narvekar has been speaking in the last few days shows that the Constitution is being misused.

Maharashtra assembly elections are due next year. On May 11, the Supreme Court in its judgment on the Shiv Sena controversy that led to the fall of the MVA government said that it cannot reinstate Uddhav Thackeray as he had decided to resign without facing a trust vote. Refusing to disqualify 16 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the apex court had said it cannot decide disqualification petitions under the anti-defection law. The court asked the assembly speaker to take a decision on the matter.
