Why did BJP give ticket to his son Karan Bhushan instead of Brij Bhushan Singh? Know 3 big reasons

BJP has canceled the ticket of its MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh from Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. In his place, the party has fielded his son Karan Bhushan Singh. There was already talk of cutting the ticket of Brij Bhushan Singh. Now three big reasons have come to light, due to which Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s ticket has been canceled.

primary reason

By giving ticket to Karan Bhushan Singh, the youngest son of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, BJP tried to send a message that instead of giving ticket to the six-time MP accused of sexual harassment, ticket should be given to one of his family members, so that the people of Kaiserganj and surrounding areas can Its influence should not diminish in the areas.

Karan Bhushan, 28, is the youngest of Brij Bhushan’s three sons and became the president of Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association in February. He has been a national level trap shooter and the coming elections will be his first step into mainstream electoral politics. If the BJP had given the ticket to former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan again, it would have faced criticism from the opposition.

Lok Sabha Election: Brij Bhushan Singh’s ticket canceled from Kaiserganj, BJP made son Karan its candidate.

Brij Bhushan Singh, who has been a six-time MP, has won from Kaiserganj five times on BJP ticket and once on SP ticket. He dominates the politics of eastern Uttar Pradesh and is actively associated with more than 50 educational institutions including engineering, pharmacy, education, law and others established in Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur, Ayodhya and Shravasti districts. Brij Bhushan Singh is known for waiving off the fees of poor students studying in his colleges and his image shows that he helps the poor. Brij Bhushan Singh was also associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. According to his 2019 election affidavit, he was named in the Babri Masjid demolition case and has the support of a large section of priests in Ayodhya. This support has remained unwavering despite allegations of sexual harassment.

second reason

The second big factor for the BJP to consider is the anger among the Thakur community in UP. The denial of ticket to Brij Bhushan Singh, a prominent Thakur leader in UP, could have left the Thakur community feeling further isolated. The BJP has faced some opposition in western and other parts of UP over not giving tickets to community leaders. Denying the ticket to Brij Bhushan Singh would have given the opposition parties more opportunity to reach out to the Thakurs, who form about 7% of the state’s population and are an important vote bank for the BJP.

third reason

A BJP leader in Gonda said that the third reason for the party not giving ticket to Brij Bhushan was that there was a possibility that the BJP’s main opposition party, the Samajwadi Party, could field him from Kaiserganj. Local BJP official said that SP not fielding a candidate till Thursday evening is an indication that if BJP had not given ticket to Brij Bhushan Singh, he could have joined SP. The leader told The Indian Express, “Look, if SP had not been waiting for BJP to play its cards, it would have fielded candidates by now. The top leadership of BJP has played a safe game.” Till date, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has maintained silence on the allegations against Brij Bhushan, while other opposition leaders have repeatedly targeted the BJP and demanded Brij Bhushan’s removal.
