Assad Encounter: Asad, son of gangster Atiq Ahmed, wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in an encounter by the UP STF team in Jhansi on Thursday afternoon. Along with Asad, accused Ghulam was also killed in the encounter. A reward of five lakh rupees each was announced on both of them.
According to the police FIR, ‘Asad and Ghulam were going on a red and black Discover motorcycle without a license number plate. They left Chirgaon and were on their way to Parichha when the police spotted them and asked them to stop. In such a situation, Asad and Ghulam tried to run away by firing indiscriminately. After this, both got killed in police action.

The slave had tried to run away. Now a report in India Today claims that no scratch has been found on the bike in which Asad and Ghulam fled.

Whether the bike fell while Asad and Ghulam were running or it overturned later is one of the questions to be asked.

After Asad’s encounter, media persons had reached the spot to take pictures before the local police arrived. It is possible that the key has fallen somewhere due to the bike being old. It is highly unlikely that someone caught in a police encounter would have taken away the keys from the bike. A mystery persists over the lost bike key.
No license plate and chassis number
The STF team which recovered the bike on which Asad and Ghulam were said to be riding during the encounter did not have a number plate or chassis number. The bike may have been stolen. While the bike usually has an engine number on it, it is likely that the engine part may also be stolen, making it a difficult task for investigators and police to identify the owner of the bike. After the incident, the police seized the bike as evidence and sent it to Baragaon police station.

No helmet was recovered from the encounter site. According to the Uttar Pradesh Police, Asad and Ghulam were missing for several days and were living in different states to avoid police radar. Here another question arises. If not for safety, but wouldn’t he have used a helmet to avoid detection?
How is it possible that he was not wearing a helmet while trying to escape from the police? Given the fact that both Asad and Ghulam were wanted by the police and had bounties declared on them. Even if he was not wearing a helmet, how did he enter Jhansi after traveling from one state to another? Even during the encounter, both the wanted criminals were not wearing helmets. In such a situation, questions are being raised when the helmet is missing.

This place is two kilometers away from the National Highway. There is a small path to reach the place, which is rocky, rough. In such a situation, no vehicle could be driven there at a speed of more than 10 to 20 kilometers per hour.
When STF was following Asad and Ghulam, how could they have gone so far? Both covered such a distance with the police team on such a rough road. This is also raising a big question.

In the end, questions are also being raised on the place of the encounter. The area where the encounter took place is located just two kilometers from the National Highway. There is a small way to reach the highway, which is inaccessible to others. According to the Uttar Pradesh police, Asad and Ghulam were hiding in Rajasthan and other places after which they fled to Jhansi. They hardly know about this small bumpy road. Also, when the two were coming from Rajasthan, the kaccha road must have been on the other side, so the chances of their sighting were slim. Also, there is no movement of people on that side. The nearest toll gate likely to have CCTV cameras was 30 km away from the encounter site and there was no dhaba nearby. That’s why questions are being raised about the place where the encounter will take place.
Opposition leaders, including BSP chief Mayawati, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, have raised questions over Atiq’s son Asad being killed in Jhansi. Accusing the BJP of trying to divert attention from real issues, Akhilesh Yadav called it a fake encounter.
