Uttarkashi Tunnel: 900mm pipes will do wonders? 40 laborers stranded for two days, due to which rescue operation is getting delayed
The workers trapped in the tunnel located in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand have not been rescued yet. NDRF, SDRF and other teams of the administration are making every effort to rescue the workers, but due to repeated debris coming into the tunnel, the problems are not showing any signs of reducing.
Now the news is that the rescue teams have decided to use new technology to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel. Rescue teams will now prepare a way for the workers to come out by installing a 40 mm pipe in the tunnel. It is expected that the workers will be taken out of the tunnel by evening.
Oxygen is being supplied continuously
Oxygen is being supplied to the workers trapped in the tunnel since immediately after the incident on Diwali. After contacting the workers after midnight on Sunday, drinking water and food packets have also been sent to them through the pipeline with the help of a compressor. Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha, who reached the incident site, said that the workers trapped in the tunnel can be taken out by Tuesday night or Wednesday.
He told that the trapped laborers will be taken out by inserting a large diameter steel pipe. Talking to the media, he said, “So far about 15-20 meters of debris has been removed and the process is going on. We are asking for a two and a half feet diameter steel pipe which will be inserted into the debris through boring and people will be pulled out through it.” “Hopefully we will be able to rescue the trapped people by tomorrow night or the day after,” he said.
