Maharashtra Politics: ‘What Sharad Pawar started in 1978 came back to him’, Raj Thackeray’s strong taunt on Ajit Pawar’s rebellion

Maharashtra Political Crisis: MNS Chief Raj Thackeray has strongly attacked NCP Chief Sharad Pawar regarding the political developments in Maharashtra. Raj Thackeray said whatever has happened in Maharashtra in the last few days. That is a gross insult to the voters. He also said that it was Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar who introduced Maharashtra to the ABCD of ‘political coup’. Now the same thing has come back to him. On the other hand, in response to a question, Raj Thackeray expressed the possibility of Sharad Pawar being behind this whole incident.

Regarding the political developments in Maharashtra during a conference in Pune on Wednesday, Raj Thackeray said that what is happening at present is very bad. If someone takes public opinion on this, then you will get to hear abuses in every house of the state. He said that this is a gross insult to the voters of the state. Now no one can be sure about who is in which party. This is an unfortunate situation in Maharashtra.

The MNS chief’s remarks came two days after Ajit Pawar and eight NCP MLAs joined the government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday. Thackeray reiterated that things are not yet clear as to who is behind the entire sequence of events. He said that he would not be surprised if later it is learned that Sharad Pawar was behind the whole game.

‘Sharad Pawar toppled the Congress government in 1978 to become CM himself’

Raj Thackeray said that the trend of jumping parties to come to power was first started by Sharad Pawar in 1978. This had never happened before in Maharashtra. Now what they did is coming back to them. Thackeray further said that in 1978, Sharad Pawar toppled Congress leader Vasantdada Patil’s government to become the chief minister of Maharashtra.

The MNS chief said, “I think some of the rebels – Praful Patel, Dilip Walse Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal are not the kind of people who will follow Ajit Pawar. He said that I find the actions of these three people suspicious.

Thackeray said that a few days ago Ajit Pawar had said that he would put Sharad Pawar’s photo on all the hoardings. This is beyond comprehension. So, I said that I would not be surprised if Supriya Sule becomes a Union minister in future.
