According to the reports, the powertrain options found in the Mahindra Thar 5 door variant will be given the same engine found in the current model of Thar. This means that the Thar 5-door SUV is likely to be offered with both a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system found in the current model can be updated to 10.25 inches.
